Industry/Application: Aerospace - Composite Beam Forming Tooling
Description: The application shown is a composite beam forming project for an aerospace tooling application. The equipment utilized 34 brushless DC servo controllers and servo motors to position a linear actuator at precisely the correct position to control the shape of the composite beam.
A power distribution panel delivered power to the servo controllers. The system controller utilized a flat panel Personal Computer (PC) and RS-232 serial communication link to send position commands and other messages to the 34 servo controllers.
Our role in this project involved electrical design and documentation, fabrication of the UL-508A electrical panels, installation and wiring of the control equipment, and final testing of the completed system.
