Industry/Application: Environmental Remediation - Electrostatic Precipitator
Description: Wet Electrostatic Precipitators are sometimes used to remove particulate matter from the process gas smoke stacks of plants that manufacture Oriented Strand Board or Particle Board. Essentially, this is an environmental remediation process for the pulp and paper industry.
The electrical and control system utilized in these applications involves power distribution, Motor Control Centers (MCC’s), Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s) with numerous analog and digital Inputs and Outputs (I/O), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI’s), Personal Computer (PC) based Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, and a multitude of limit switches, sensors, and instrumentation.
Our role in these projects is to design the electrical and control system, program the PLC, HMI, and SCADA devices, fabricate the electrical equipment, specify and provide the sensors and instrumentation, and perform system functional testing. In addition, we are usually asked to provide Operation and Maintenance (O&M) manuals and training.
